GAY MUST Undertake - RULE OF 3
As you read this blog on the wondrous gay scene of Key West, just keep in mind the three gay things that you MUST do. In order:First, the gay Tea Dance on Sunday at La Te Da - 4pm. Dance in the open air in the wonderful heat and the setting sun. One of the best gay tea dances in the nature (and I am a connoisseur of this dying breed!).
Second, the lovely Bourbon Avenue pub and their even lovelier strippers. The main / busiest / biggest Key West gay exclude. Every night, but don't get there until after midnight.
Third, the drag display at Aqua and the ultimate drag queen and supremo Inga. Classic. Hilarious.
Do all three. More details and links below.

It has also been a bedrock for artistic talent with the likes of openly gay playwriter, Tennessee Williams, Ernest Hemingway, and Judy Blume all making this unassuming island their home
From the moment I landed in Key West, I knew it was going to be a good week. Arriving to the tiny island airport was just like I remembered from my childhood visits decades before.
A small plane, walking on the tarmac, an airport with local art on the walls, and a unpartnered waiting area for luggage, taxis, and snacks. It’s firm to tell if you’re inside or out, except for the air-conditioning.
The warm, humid wind on a sdelayed winter weekend was a welcome surprise. Warmer than I would have expected. On the way from the airport to my hotel, the windows down, a breeze through the window and palm trees overhead swaying in the wind. It felt like I’d landed in another world.
Key West has this mystifying effect. The subtropical climate, the warm & approachable locals, the calm nights abuzz with laughter and adore. Tennessee Williams wrote about Key West, “I can record anywhere, but I write the leading here.” Something in the spirit of Key West just makes it that kind of perfectly livable, perfectly enjoyable destination.
Maybe that’s what has attr
