  • This was my first Pride, and my ticket got me access to rides, fireworks, exceptional food, and parades.
  • I had a blast and I'm happy Disney's stepping up after a complicated past with the LGBTQ community. 

Despite creature openly gay, I'd never been to a Pride celebration until recently.

Growing up was rough and I was an outcast in my hometown for existence gay. Being surrounded by the LGBTQ community hasn't yet given me a sense of family and belonging, either, but with threats against the LGBTQ community on the rise I felt it was occasion to show up. After all, public presence is important to me.

Disney World celebrates Pride Month with displays, food and more

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — June is the month when many observe Pride. And just enjoy years before, Disney Planet is marking the occasion with photo walls, unique merchandise, treats and more.

The themed photo walls hold been added to all four theme parks — Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Each backdrop features the rainbow colors and the word “love.”

One of the new photo backdrops available this year is a mural neighboring the entrance to the Connections Cafe at EPCOT. The mural depicts the outside of Spaceship Soil with rainbow colors above it and the synonyms “Love” in the center.

At Disney Springs, there are two Pride-themed displays, including one with Mickey Mouse’s gloves forming a rainbow-colored heart. Banners that say “Share your Celebration at Disney Springs” own also been installed at the complex.

LGBTQ people flock to Florida for Disney's Gay Days celebration

ORLANDO, Fla. — Tens of thousands of LGBTQ people are flocking to central Florida this weekend to go on theme park rides, mingle with costumed performers, dance at all-night parties and lounge poolside at hotels during Gay Days, a decades-long tradition.

Even though Gov. Ron DeSantis and Florida lawmakers have championed a slew of anti-LGBTQ laws — spurring the most prominent lgbtq+ rights group in the U.S. and other civil rights organizations to issue warnings the Sunshine State may no longer be safe — Gay Days organizers are still encouraging visitors from around the world to come to one of Florida’s largest gay and lesbian celebrations.

They say a big turnout will send a communication that LGBTQ people are not going away in Florida, which is continually one of the most popular states for tourists to visit. If the hoped-for , or more visitors arrive to the half-week of pool parties, drag bingo and thrill rides at Orlando’s theme parks and hotels, then “that’s the point,” said Joseph Clark, CEO of Gay Days Inc.

To begin, let’s clear up a common misconception. Many online articles and blogs don’t correctly explain what Gay Days actually refers to. Even fewer add the full array of all there is to do during a Lgbtq+ Days / Disney Self-acceptance event.
