According to Creative Director Shelton Ridge Love, “We’ve included every holiday song we could think of that has the word ‘gay’ in it. The evening will be a raucous and fun time, just as the name suggests.”

The family-friendly concert will appeal to a wide variety of tastes, with arrangements of holiday classics such as “It’s the Most Marvelous Time of the Year,” unexpected favorites like ABBA’s “Gimme, Gimme, Gimme a Man After Midnight,” and original works as skillfully. The member TTBB chorus will again be joined in this performance by a band and dancers—and will also feature a brass quintet to herald in the festive season.

Greenville Theatre is located at College Street downtown in the Heritage Green cultural complex.

Fun fact about the business: “We own a straight guy in the chorus.” Any man may audition. “They&#;re there to support us, we&#;ll support back.”

Every Tuesday evening, 35 men gather at Greenville Theatre to rehearse in event and unity.

“It&#;s having this sense of community, where we all feel very welcome,” says Shelton R. Love, skilled director of the Greenville Gay Men’s Chorus.

At every audition, the chorus asks aspirants why they want to join.

“Almost % of the people there state they want that sense of community,” Love says. “I bet if you asked any member of the chorus, that’s their favorite thing about it. You would overhear that word over and over.”

Filmmaker David Charles Rodrigues found a perfect subject for a documentary.

“When I heard about the tour, I consideration, wow, that is the most beautiful, positive, uplifting example of how we can create a bridge and bring this state back together,” Rodrigues said.

Greenville’s First Baptist Church plays a big role in “Gay Chorus Deep South,” Rodrigues’ award-winning documentary that will be screened at 5 p.m. Sunday, June 9, at the Tranquility Center.

A panel discussion will follow the screening, featuring Rodrigues, Gay Chorus conductor Tim Seelig, and First Baptist Greenville Pastor Jim Dant.
