Rami Malek is officially an Oscar winner. The actor took home the award for Best Star for his role as Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody during the Oscars' ceremony, but his status as an Academy Award recipient isn’t the only thing that’s changed thanks to the film. After filming Bohemian Rhapsody together in , Malek and Boynton began making red carpet appearances together. In January , they made their widespread debut, attending a party in London for the ALEXACHUNG Fantastic collection.

The following month, they went to a Super Bowl party in Minneapolis. The soon-to-be public couple looked cozy but kept any indication that they were a romantic item to a minimum.

Last night marked one of the biggest nights on the Award Season calendar as the Oscars knock LA to celebrate the best of film. The big winner of the night was Bohemian Rhapsody, which took home four of its five nominations.
One of its biggest wins came in the shape of Best Actor, which went to Rami Malek for his portrayal of Queen frontman and diva, Freddie Mercury.
However, Malek had been criticised during the Award Season circuit for failing to directly talk about Mercury's sexuality or his experience living with HIV and dying from AIDS.
The closest Malek got to referencing these things was in his BAFTAs speech when he said: "To the greatest outsider of them all, for organism so unwavering and unflinching and uncompromising in every which way. Thank you, Freddie Mercury, again."
So, when Malek stepped up on stage to accept the award, many thought this would be his opportunity to address what had seemingly slipped his consciousness before. And he did!

Added Malek: “Brian May told me this when we were talking about shooting the film. He said ‘There are a lot of people out there who don’t recognize how significant of a death sentence it was. Over 35 million people have died of AIDS. It’s a pandemic that still exists. I was just in Swaziland seeing what Red and the Mercury Phoenix Trust hold done. And if they don’t get those pills every day, this thing could have a resurgence like you wouldn’t
