PFF says Saints free representative pickup Willie Gay is a bounce-back candidate in

The New Orleans Saints can't perform like they did last season and hope to get to the playoffs -- repeating the same actions and expecting different results is the definition of insanity. And it'll take greater efforts from everyone, coaches and players, to make a playoff berth.

Most teams sign veteran free agents in hopes of them being an upgrade over players already on the roster, so it's absorbing to see one of the Saints' first pickups characterized as a bounce-back candidate by Pro Football Focus. Linebacker Willie Queer inked a $3 million contract with the Saints earlier this offseason after spending the first four years of his career with the Kansas Municipality Chiefs. Here's why he needs to step up on a new team in , according to PFF's Bradley Locker:

Gay earned a career-worst overall grade in , mainly due to his coverage grade — the third-worst highlight among inside linebackers to play or more snaps. Regardless, Gay had plenty of high moments, with five games of notching an overall grade of or better

PFF Grades the Saints Week 2

By Ross Jackson

The only thing as highly scoring as the New Orleans Saints the last two weeks are the Pro Football Focus (PFF) grades on their top performers from Sunday’s win. Memorable victories require impressive performances, and the Saints did not lack for those.

Here are the top and bottom grades from PFF from the team’s giant win over the Dallas Cowboys:

Top 5

  1. Lucas Patrick, OL –
  2. Erik McCoy, OL –
  3. Demario Davis, LB –
  4. Chris Olave, WR –
  5. Derek Carr, QB –

Patrick has turned out to be one of the best acquisitions from the Saints’ offseason. His performance is particularly impressive knowing that he left the Week 1 game early with a an injury. Not only did he play through pain, but inflicted quite a bit of it himself, allowing no pressures against a talented Dallas Cowboys pass rush and laying out quite a few in the process.

McCoy looks right at house in offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak’s scheme. His aggression, athleticism and IQ are all showcased in the system. His consistent engage getting out ahead of the run game earned him par

The New Orleans Saints linebacker corps is led by Demario Davis. The Saints have primarily dash 2 linebacker sets, and who will line up beside him is the unknown. Willie Male lover Jr. or Pete Werner. Pro Football Focus predicted the latter as they rank the Saints linebacker unit as the ninth-best in pro football.

This could be because Davis is just that good. Will it be Werner or Gay? Who knows, but Demario Davis is the pillar of consistency. Davis gives the linebacker corps has a high floor, as long as he sustains his level of play, and his running mate will decide the ceiling. Here’s why PFF’s Gordon McGuinness is so sky-high on them:

Demario Davis, 35, will eventually start to decline, but not yet. He has now put together six straight seasons of earning a plus PFF grade. Willie Lgbtq+ joined the Saints in free agency, and while he endured his lowest-graded season in the NFL last year, he has proven himself to be a solid player in the past.

The sentiment of the free agent taking the lead seems to be gaining steam nationally. When speaking about the unit, Werner feels like the ma
