Audiences have had the feels for Atlanta-bred crooner-rapper ILoveMakonnen since Recognizable for a dreamy brand of club-hop, via such tracks as “I Don’t Sell Molly No More,” ILoveMakonnen got the attention of Drake with his ballad “Tuesdays,&#; and the superstar rapper later did a guest movie on a remix version. In short order, ILoveMakonnen was signed to Drake&#;s OVO Sound imprint.

But things went from rosy to rough as ILoveMakonnen found himself dissatisfied with the label&#;s view of his place and his music. He left dramatically and moved to OVO’s parent corporation, Warner Brothers (now Warner Records), in , only to meet similar obstacles.

For the first time, iLoveMakonnen has addressed Migos&#; controversial comments regarding his sexuality, in an exclusive feature with Fader.

According to the &#;Tuesday&#; hitmaker, the Atlanta triumvirate only reneged on their comments about his sexual orientation because of their newly crowned No. 1 record &#;Bad & Boujee.&#;

&#;Did someone mention credible and not mention incredible? That&#;s really my only comment,&#; said Makonnen. &#;Was there not an &#;in&#; front of that credible? iLoveMakonnen Comes Out as Gay

iLoveMakonnen has come out as gay.

The hip-hop actor shared his news with a string of tweets in the small hours of Friday morning. “As a fashion icon, I can&#;t tell u about everybody else&#;s closet, I can only tell u about mine, and it&#;s time I&#;ve reach out,” he wrote in one tweet.

He added, “And since y&#;all love breaking news, here&#;s some antique news to part, I&#;m gay. And now I&#;ve told u about my life, maybe u can go being yours.”

And he wrapped it all up in a solo post on Instagram with the caption, “Thank you for letting me be myself.”

The Atlanta rapper’s social media feeds have been mostly filled with cherish and support.

The MC (real name Makonnen Sheran) broke out with the smash &#;Club Goin Up On A Tuesday&#; and was a signing to Drake&#;s OVO Sound. He left the label last year, issuing a statement on his departure:&

Earlier this week, Taylor Bennett announced on Twitter that he is bisexual. &#;I want to help others that struggle with the same issues,&#; he wrote. 

Possibly inspired by Bennett&#;s courageous act, rapper ILoveMakonnen—best known for his hit single &#;Tuesday&#; and his short-lived tenure signed to Drake&#;s OVO label—revealed early Friday morning (January 20) that he is, in fact, gay.

In a New York Times profile in May , Joe Coscarelli asked him about the rumors:

“The rap world thinks I’m gay,” he said. “A lot of people out there do. They think I’m a queer, which is not a problem. I don’t yearn to say I’m homosexual, I’m straight, I’m multi-attracted or any of that, because that’s just. &#;” he said, trailing off. “Who cares? All that’s doing is dividing us.”
